We at Mighty Moments use a child-centred approach to our practice, which informs our planning and delivery of service. Here’s what that means for your child!
We prioritise your child’s choices and value their perspectives, surrounding what, how, and who they would like to play with. Considering their needs and brilliant ideas. We encourage your children to speak their mind, we value their input and recognise each child’s individual superpowers, strengths, abilities and knowledge. This is always done in a safe and caring manner and environment.
We nurture your kids to be themselves (happy, playful, spirited and unique). We support this through the games, puzzles, challenges and activities we utilise in each of our sessions. We champion children taking bold, brave, and fun moves in many different ways. Our job is to allow your kids a space to shine in their own magnificent ways.
This may mean letting children choose what’s good for them over what’s expected of them. We often see this in our combined Chess Crusaders and Board Buddies classes, where parents send the child solely for chess, but they also choose to play some of our other strategically hand-picked board games. Please don’t think for a minute that one program has more benefits than the other, because we know that it’s play and creativity that are crucial for developing problem solving, critical thinking, imagination, improving resilience, enhancing cooperation and negotiation and especially emotional regulation (something we could all be better at).
Now, your challenge is to let your child grow and develop holistically, supporting their social, emotional, psychological, and physiological development – building their confidence, happiness, and a stronger sense of self.
Now let’s go play!
