Brave Dave Takes on Racetrack Hill

If you’re lucky enough to know our Leah Linda Ledge, you would know she is incredible, feisty, fierce, and fun, to name a few of her great qualities.

She can also experience serious anxiety at times, especially if it involves BUGS, INSECTS that fly, Australian WILDLIFE, new PLACES, PEOPLE and DRIVING. We are ok with this at Mighty Moments cause we all have our OWN unique quirks and perks.

The best thing about hanging out and working with Leah is that you never know what kind of interesting experience you will have with her. And let me tell you, I’ve had a few now, and they never ever disappoint!

These experiences often leave me in absolute stitches and being NO help with the cause or issue.

So today, we were off pitching, and Will joined us for our school pitching adventures. Leah had chosen to drive (wowzas, hang on tight for the ride). To add to this, we were driving the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. For those who know it, the road is windy, hilly, and has only two small lanes—not to mention chaos.

We were travelling well, we had dropped in and introduced ourselves to a number of schools, with a reasonable response and welcome.

We had finally arrived in Montville and championed our great efforts of the day with a brew —Coffee, that is. We dropped into one of Leah’s favourites, which uses real chocolate in its MOCCAS, not the fake stuff.

Returning to the car, we encountered a tricky situation with some limited English-speaking tourists who had parked on a seriously steep Montville hill decline and were struggling to get their car into gear to reverse out of their car park. The car was positioned as close as humanly possible to the car in front-with millimeters to spare. We tried to help -however, our offer to reverse the car was sadly declined, and they would wait the time out until the car in front owner came back. I believe they were waiting a while.

We had finished in the Hinterland with our pitching and continued on our merry way till we had to go down the range. Leah thought she would attempt the hectic hill down from Montville to Palmwoods-to which I said YOU SAID WHAT… when I searched the web for the proper name, I couldn’t even find one. But what we will delightfully name Racetrack Hill – this may give you some insight into why I had white knuckles from the grip I had on the assist grips (grab handles) situated near the windows, nearly tearing it out. I remember looking at Will, and the look on his face was absolutely PRICELESS…

Now, let me tell you something about our Leah Linda Ledge. When she tries something new, she has courage in bucketloads. The hard part sometimes is getting her to trust the process enough to take the risk, jump, and give it a red-hot go.

And today, she did… Brave Dave takes on Racetrack Hill.

Well, let’s just say it was an experience I might need a long time to consider doing again. Did we arrive at the bottom of the hill safely? Yes, we did. But I am unsure how and cannot say that my heart was still in my chest by the time we got to Palmwoods. It spent most of its time trying to jump out of my mouth or come out of the seat of my pants.

Here’s to the brave Daves (kids/adults/ anyone trying something new), great friends, Mighty Moments, and hair-raising adventures with the MM crew.

Stay awesome, WILD and groovy and keep connected.
