Leah and Amanda together always equal trouble with a capital T. Our day was planned—our shopping list was full—and Board Buddies resources were needed. A road trip to Noosa, in simple terms, means music up loud, windows down, some out-of-tune ear-bleeding singing, and uncontrollable laughing between us all the way there.
We set off from Leah’s late. Will kept us on schedule and got us to finish the tasks that had a 10 a.m. deadline. As always, super wrangling Will. Thanks for always keeping us both in check!
We had done our research and had our op shop track planned from start to finish. Did I hear you say op shop- Yes, you did. At Mighty Moments we are seriously resourceful, always looking for ways to be sustainable, environmentally friendly and, more importantly, supports local charities doing good for some of the families we work with in the Community. As well as being good on our back pocket
Unfortunately, after the first few op shops, we had no real board game wins. We grabbed a coffee quickly and had our next op shop destination all mapped out. When we got back to Larry (the car), we were taken back to find we had been parked by this little red car.
Leah and I looked at each other and thought, “Only us…”
I said, “It’s a sign for us to check out the op shop across the road.”
Come on, Leah, let’s go……. not one of Amanda’s greatest ideas….
I had Leah hopping, nearly getting her wiped out, trying to cross the 4-lane main road in Noosaville, only to find out when we finally got across, the little red beep beep who parked Larry in had driven off. So we looked at each other, gathered enough courage and made our dart for it back across the road. Heads up, don’t try this stunt while wearing thongs or slip-ons, carrying large objects or wearing sunglasses that fall off your face when you run…. otherwise the outcome won’t be great; remember, people, safety comes first.
After making our way to the next op shop and a few good finds,, we decided we would make our way to Coolum to try our luck. On our way, we got distracted by the saw the sign for the Reviva Resource Recovery Centre near Doonan and thought, let’s go for a little looksy.
This place has raving reviews by hunters and collectors – so why wouldn’t a coupla resourceful girls like us go try their luck there?
After a significant amount of time and some serious hustling with other potential buyers, we guarded and wrangled a large quantity of seriously gorgeous Italian and Spanish ceramic bathroom tiles. We had white wave subways, green squares, and marbled large and specky floors. It all came to a grand total of $50! Sadly, there were no more board games for the day; we girls got tripped up by the tiles!
We packed the car with Leah’s great purchase and made our way to Coolum. To say we were starving was an understatement. A quick stop-in at Maccas Coolum for a cheeky cheeseburger saved the day.
